Dear University City School Community,

Yesterday, we received news regarding the tentative agreement reached between the San Diego Unified School District and the San Diego Education Association regarding the planned Phase 2 reopening of schools the week of April 12, 2021. You can read more here: https ://

This exciting news allows us to continue our preparations for this most special time. We understand that with this agreement, many questions arise and we are committed to being collaborative and communicative as we engage in this complex process.

The coming weeks will require us to come together as a cluster to ensure our staff members and our campuses are ready to welcome back our students and families who choose to return for in-person learning. This will certainly not look exactly like the school we are used to, but it is a monumental step in moving toward a return to more “normal” operations.

In the coming days, to help in our planning, a final survey will be sent out to our families that will ask families to determine whether their student will be attending in-person schooling or remaining online. We understand you can’t provide a definite answer to whether your student will return on campus at this time, without more information as to the structure and time schedule, but we will have this information out to you in advance of you having to make a decision.

As always, we are committed to keeping you informed and abreast of new information as it becomes available.
