School Holiday Update (11-20-2020)
As most know, we will be off from school next week for Thanksgiving break. After a few weeks, we will also be off for winter break. Moving into the holidays, we wanted to share that we know some students and families are struggling with temporary mental health challenges. Possible loss of a job, sickness, and isolation from family and friends has been hard on many of us.
We want to remind our families that it is important that we keep an eye on our students. Over the years, I am very proud of our UC school community and the way we collectively look out for each other. Over the last few weeks, we have been contacted a number of times by concerned parents over the well-being of other students they hear about. Their willingness to say something has allowed us to intervene and make contacts with the parents of students to help them find resources for their families.
When we are off on breaks, we are not checking our emails so we wanted to make sure our parents and students were aware of what to do if they hear something that is of concern.
If you feel a student may be planning to hurt themselves, you should contact 911. Attached is also a link to our school counseling page that has a list of resources for mental health and suicide prevention.

With this in mind, we wish everyone a great break after Friday and ask that everyone stay safe and follow public health guidelines. We all look forward to the day we can get everyone back on campus and be whole again. We are most thankful to our supportive families we serve.
Have a great break, Mr. O.
