Survey for PSAT Interest

It’s critical that all understand the health guideline expectations and the process we will use to house and proctors exams for this day.

According to the weather reports it’s supposed to rain Tuesday, January 26th, the day we will have PSAT exams.  Please know that the day and time is established by the College Board, not SDUSD. Please know the test will be given outside underneath the solar panels in the parking lot.  If it rains hard in this area, we will potentially be dodging raindrops. In the meantime, we are seeking to see if the district can fund a 50 foot by 150 foot tent to house 80 or more students.  Such a tent would cost around $7,000.

We will be sending out another survey to make sure those who expressed interest in wanting to take the exams at school still want to do so.  If our numbers shrink, we could move the outside testing underneath the quad roof awnings. None of it is ideal, but we are still trying to make sure our few National Merit type students get an opportunity to compete for National Merit recognition. We could move underneath the awnings if we have 50 or fewer students. I want to remind all test takers that if they are just taking the exam at school for practice, they can accomplish this by taking the exam at home and online.  Here is the online link for the practice PSAT.

Common Questions:

I’m not comfortable testing in person but want to practice for the SAT.  Are there other options? YES!   In addition to Khan Academy, there are two free practice tests on the CollegeBoard website.

I want to try for the National Merit scholarship - is this the only option? No! Students must complete an application by April & take SAT between March and June  Details are available here: https://forms.nationalmerit.org/alternateentry

Have a good evening, Mr. O.
